Summer 2017 Throwing Course
Joss is offering a mini evening class this summer: four evenings spread over two weeks in August (Mon 21st, Wed 23rd, Wed 30th, Thurs 31st) 6.30-9.00pm. It will be held at the exceptionally well-equipped pottery studio at Kigbeare Studios on the edge of Okehampton. The total cost is £150.
The course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the basic techniques of throwing, and is intended for beginners or intermediate throwers wishing to refine their skills. There is a maximum of 8 places, with each attendee having use of their own electric wheel.
We will cover the essential skills of throwing cylinders, bellies, bowls, lips and adding handles: Joss will give regular demonstrations to the group as a whole, and provides one-to-one advice where needed.
None of the pots produced during the course are kept or fired (I am very strict about this!). You need to come prepared to work hard for four evenings and gain a dramatic improvement in your throwing skills!
If you are interested in attending the course, please read the further course information below.
